In this beautifully illustrated children’s book, a heartwarming tale of motherly love unfolds in the Arctic north.

In a timeless and universal story, a child tests the limits of independence and comfortingly learns that a parent's love is unconditional and everlasting. The lyrical text introduces young readers to a distinctively different culture, while at the same time showing that the special love that exists between parent and child transcends all boundaries of time and place.

The story is complemented by graphically stunning illustrations featuring whales, wolves, puffins, and sled dogs. This tender and reassuring book is one that both parents and children will turn to again and again.

Joosse's book joins another bestselling title, the text and illustrations of which inspire hours of fun as books-cum-nesting blocks. Mama, Do You Love Me? Nesting Blocks based on the book by Barbara M. Joosse, illus. by Barbara Lavallee, and Sylvia Long's Mother Goose Nesting Blocks each include 10 blocks that will capture readers and builders on all sides. For example, on the "Mother Goose" blocks, one side has a nursery rhyme, one side shows a related illustration, another a numeral and the last has two to three letters in the alphabet once the tower is built, young children can read all 10 rhymes, the numbers in order from one to 10, and the entire alphabet, A to Z. The blocks fit neatly inside one another and store in a sturdy carrying box.

In a series of questions and answers reminiscent of Margaret Wise Brown's 'The Runaway Bunny' (Harper), a small Inuit girl uses her imagination to test her mother's love. The rounded, stylized watercolors are brightly appealing, full of humor and love. A beautiful combination of a rich culture and a universal theme.
