The official magazine of the Ford & Fordson Association. Ford & Fordson Tractors magazine covers the early Fordsons to the last of the Fords, and the latest news with New Holland. Each issue of this quality glossy magazine is packed with reader stories, buyers’ guides, news, reports, technical advice and parts for sale. The old Fordson and the Ford that followed were incredibly versatile tractors and were arguably converted by more specialist companies like County, Doe, Roadless and many others. We celebrate all this in our magazine with features on restorations, collections, recollections. Tractor collectors may also find that rare part or tractor for sale in our reader’s free ads.

SIMPLY THE BEST • The Fordson Major was the tractor for a generation, and the Super Major was arguably the best model in the range. James Turnock from Shropshire also talks about the challenges of farming during the hottest summer on record, writes Bob Weir.
THE STRANGE STORY OF THE FORD THAT NEVER WAS A FORD • In 1917 Henry Ford commenced production of the Fordson tractor, the first tractor to carry the name Ford was the 1939 Ford 9N with Ferguson System made at Dearborn over 20 years later. Jane Brooks looks at the early days of the American tractor industry.
YESTERDAY’S FARMING • This traditional annual two day show takes place in Somerset each August. Unlike many other steam rallies and shows it is not held on a fixed site, but rotates around a couple of locations. Phil Gibson attended this year’s event which was held at Haselbury Plucknett.
THE CHRISTMAS GIFT THAT LASTS ALL YEAR!
THE NEW RANGE • Jonathan Whitlam continues the story of the Ford 600 Series of the latter half of the 1970s, a range that is now seen as iconic and forever regarded as a tale of two halves

FORDSON DEXTA • Attention to small details can make or break a good restoration, Ben Philips runs through some of the minor work that made all the difference to his Dexta project
PICTURE THE PAST • Seen here drilling in the Grampian area of Scotland, this Fordson Major is fitted with ‘live drive’ which would date it to 1956 or slightly later, as that was the year optional live-drive was introduced. This enabled the independent running of the pto and hydraulics, even when the clutch was depressed. It has a Scottish prefix numberplate, but as year identifiers were not introduced until the early 60s, and the tractor is not live on the DVLA registration website it is not possible to be completely accurate as to its age.
